Main
Resources
Stormclouds is now officially closed. I will be moving the iDirt resources I've maintained on the web site over to my main web site so that they will not vanish entirely. I'll also attempt to get them over to some other sites, like kyndig.com.

I'd like to thank everyone who played at Stormclouds over the years. The MUD's playerbase had been on the decline for a long time and even I'd stopped logging in much. Some folks like to claim MUDs are dying out but based on my experiences with an Envy MUD I am running, that's really not the case. Certain MUDs and certain types of MUDs are dying though. Whether Stormclouds's experiences are common to all Aber-style MUDs or was just Stormclouds's fate I don't know and it really doesn't matter.

If you're looking for an Aber-style MUD to play, take a look at the MUD List link (while it's still) there, those are all good MUDs. You can always visit MUD Connector also to search for some. This link should bring up the search results for MUDs calling themselves Aber.

UPDATE:

For those who have been asking about it, here's the download of Stormclouds's code. I've excised all of my areas and their code as well as Darkness, which I had by special arrangement with the author. The code compiles, it whines about a bad function in bulletin.c (because the function is unsafe), but I have no idea if it runs (I removed the uaf_rand and did not bother booting the server). The code has had numerous iDirt bugs fixed and the spell system re-written. If you happen to lift some of the code for your own MUD, you might mention where you got it from.
